Insights Cards can be presented in different visualizations; Headline, Top Content, Bar Chart, Pie Chart, and Line Chart. Since Insights Cards consider data before visuals you can click Edit and Create Insights Cards to learn how to create card content. Once you get to the visualization section you will have links to creating all three card types, here we'll be creating a Pie Chart Card Visualization.

Pie chart cards allow you to build a pie chart displaying custom content in a pleasing visualization of data right in your dashboard. Pie Chart Cards offer more than their titular graphic, they also offer itemized graph details. Hovering over data sets within a pie chart produces written, itemized details.

Creating a Pie Chart Card

Pie Chart cards require more information than Headline and Top Content cards as they produce more visualized data and offer more detail directly in the dashboard.

Card Basics

Visualization Type: Pie Chart

In the Visualization section of the card editor, select Pie Chart as the visualization type.

Subheading Content

Click in the text box to enter your subheading content. This information is a brief set of information you want to be relayed about the card; the text you enter will be displayed as it's written while you can include a specified data by adding subheading variables that will update with the rest of the data.

Subheading Variables

To enter subheading variables within your text, click the + button and choose from the populated list of variables based on the card's content.

Basic Styling

The subheading section allows for basic styling, including Bold, Italic, and Underlined text as well as the ability to include hyperlinked data.

Split Data

Select the field you want represented by each pie chart section, or each piece of the pie; sections will be differentiated by color according to the chart legend.

Number of Series Allowed

You can limit the number of series allowed to be represented in your chart to prevent crowded visualizations when datasets contain more information than would be visually legible.

Add the label for the pie chart field.

Other Options

You can toggle off/on the option to add a segment for missing values and to show segment percentages on each section of the pie chart.

Select from the dropdown the aggregate metric to display.

Metric Label

Add the label you want displayed for the metric in your chart and legend.

Color Set

Choose from the offered color sets the color scheme you want to be reflected in your pie chart. Color legends and details information appear when you hover over any data in the chart.

Pie Chart Tips

-Hovering over data in your chart will display a legend with further details, including itemized amounts.

-Clicking on the card header will produce the inspection drawer as it does for all cards, but also offers the ability to click on an individual section or in an itemized portion of a chart to display a report below with data specific to your selection. When you select a specific section, a legend with the corresponding information will appear on the chart in the inspection drawer.

-The Interactive Card feature in a pie chart allows the pie chart to adjust along with report changes. (You can save these changes to change the pie chart card or simply close the inspection drawer to return to the original chart in the dashboard.)

Once you have completed the visualization section, click save in the card editor to save your card. If you want to make changes to other sections of the card editor, return to Creating and Editing Insights Cards.
