We know your data and needs are always changing, which means your reports are too. Using interactive filters to edit from within a report or dashboard will prevent you from having to reopen the report or board editors every time you want to make a change; saving you time and providing dynamic reporting.
Where do interactive filters exist in the InsightSquared Platform?
Reports and dashboards are available for most standard Salesforce object types and interactive filters are available in reports and dashboards. It's important to understand the different levels of data being filtered.
Reports are available in Leads, Contacts, Accounts, People, Opportunities and within Insights Cards. Reports can be built within dashboards and report filters are only applied to a report itself. Click here to learn more about creating and editing reports.
Dashboards are available in Leads, Contacts, Accounts, People, Opportunities and Insights. Dashboards can be built within a feature and can encompass multiple reports. Filters are applied to an entire dashboard, including any reports created within the dashboard. Click here to learn more about creating and editing dashboards.
Add Filter Button
The Add Filter Button is a prime example of the versatility and customizable nature of the Platform. This button allows you to add a new dataset to a board or report on the fly, giving you more data visibility in less time.
To add a filter, simply click the add filter button, populated after the last included filter pill on your report or board. From the filter list, select the data you want to be populated and a new filter pill will instantly be produced and offer the same editing capabilities listed below. You can further configure the new filter in this open window or simply click done to return the full report or board. In seconds, an entire customizable set of data has become available to you.
Your active filters live in pills above your report or dashboard. (Pills are the colored squares with filter titles.) Don't see them? Don't worry, they may be hidden to save space when you're not using them to edit your report or dashboard.
Click on filtered results to show pills that reflect each filter already included in your report or dashboard. You can click there again when you're finished editing to hide the pills to allow more space for your data.
Editing with Interactive Filters
Edit a filter
- Click the dropdown arrow in an interactive filter to open its filter options. (You'll see the same options you would see in the filter section of the editor, but with quicker and easier access!)
- Make any changes you want to see reflected and click DONE. The new filtered data will immediately update.
Don't forget to click Save Changes after you make any changes you want to keep. Remember that there will be times you adjust filters to gain insight, but do not necessarily want your report or dashboard to reflect such in the future. In this case, simply skip saving your changes and navigate to your next project, the next time you open the report or dashboard, you will see the original filter sets.
Below, the Type filter is selected in the first image so only New Business types are filtered and listed in the current report. What if we decide we want the report to reflect both New Business and Renewal opportunities?
Click on the Type dropdown arrow, select Renewal type to add another type and click Done. Now we see both New Business and Renewal type opportunities filtered and listed in the report.
Below, the Confidence to Close filter is selected and currently filters all Confidence to Close rates, from 0-100%. If we wanted to only see opportunities with a Confidence to Close rate of 50% and above, we could simply adjust the filter by changing the beginning of the range from 0% to 50%.
Now our report filters and lists only opportunities with a Confidence to Close rate of 50% and above.
That's it. You can directly edit your boards and reports with immediate adjustments using interactive filters. Cool, right?
